After yesterday's minor successes with the overall look; today started to concentrate on the fence sign which works as a transition from the Dad & Daughter scenes to the Scientists scenes. Used photoshop and some industrial textures to apply initial ageing. Now with the look looked down, need to go back and produce a displacement map and let photoshop create the displacement - won't be as good as Cinema4D as the shadows won't react to the movement of the camera but shouldn't show as it's quite fast - and this should save a bit of time on the rendering... although if I use my Mac here at home it looks like one frame will take 1 hour to render ...I have 150 frames to render overall ... hmm
Most of this morning has been spent working on this 5 second sequence. Added ambient Occlusion today plus more vehicles, some new textures on the barbed wire and trucks. More to do but gradually getting there. Here is a screen shot of it so far - fence and barbed wire in focus as the camera rises above it and then the hangers go into focus - this is mid way..
Edited the final scene together and it works well. Learnt a lot from this about subtle lighting - will remember for my next film!!
Looking forward to colour correcting in Color. Going to take my time and learn how to give the footage a warm/snug nighttime feel...
TurboSquid has come up trumps again with a Cinema 4D compatible file of a security fence with barbed wire.
Fence will cope with a close up and barbed wire will look okay from the distance the camera sees it as it rises over to reveal Area 51 hangers. A good find at $9. Wasn't there a couple of weeks ago !
Going to add to the wide shot tomorrow along with the sign I have made up. Looking forward to it.
